When I blew out a disc in my lower back I tried the resting it thing. Of course these are the same principles we teach in class!. I started working out but I kept hurting like crazy later. It took months and truthfully years to learn how not to continue hurting my body and actually get it to heal! If I take care of the principles I learned in my injuries I stay healthy and strong. I decided I was going to try it without the medicine and slow down.
I give this advice one-on-one when I talk to someone who is trying to overcome chronic or even acute pain.
Did anyone lose their job during a preemployment physical b/c of takeing prescription pain medication(s) <sigh> I will not use the mm before work and will not be informing my employer that I do use it unless I have to take a random drug testand I doubt I'll work for anyone who would require me to take a random drug test.

(I think I would be high risk and highy liablity for any company. But prior to doing that answers to these questions would be helpful. I know I would have to be cleared by my PCP and notify SSA. Am I right?.

It may be that, depending on the job you will do, they possibly test for different things, I don t know.
I see no reason that one should have to l them that you are taking daily maintenance drugs for things such as Fibro, diabetes etc. until something would come up affecting your duties that these drugs might possibly interfere with your job perfromance. Marilyn.

Sadly while I keep my liscence active I am not able to work, anbd would not trust myself to be able to keep verbal orders straight and things like that.

Good luck. As soon as I find myself a new job, I'm going to get my medical marijuana permit and use it to control my pain since my PCP suggested tylenol for my breakthrough pain.

I'm also prescribed tramadol 50 mg that I also take before bed. I've been taking The tramadol like I said I only take when I go to bed, and I have built up a tolerance to the gabapentin like my pain specialist told me to. I'm not As long as you feel you can work safely while taking them you should be fine.
