One of the most popular Suboxone myths is that the medication causes patients to gain massive amounts of weight. When you combine chronic constipation with water retention, you can easily feel like you're getting fat. I was addicted to tramadol as well due back, hip, shoulder from a car accident.
Is there anything we can do to counteract the weight gain?
Suboxone is comprised of two different medications. Buprenorphine attaches to the brain’s opioid receptors, blocking out the effects of other opioids. The main ingredient is buprenorphine, a medication classified as a “partial opioid agonist.” It produces a lower effect than full opioid agonists, such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, methadone, and heroin.
So whaen you stopped the suboxone did you go thru withdrawl.
The doctor I get it from claims that most people stay on it the rest of their lives and that it’s almost impossible to stop taking! I don’t want to take it more than a year.
This can cause a type of water retention known as lymphoedema (lymphedema), which is common after some types of surgery, for instance Hi My name is danielle I Have a question I take the depo shot and im on fluid pills tramadol for pain everyday and also anxiety medication and i retain like 5lbs of fluid at night im.
There are ingredients in fruit that your blood vessels need in order to stop them leaking fluid like this. Lori, this can happen if your diet is very poor and you are eating too much sugary or fatty food and not enough fresh fruit and vegetables. Try to improve your diet, and if you need any extra help, it may help you to understand your condition by reading my book the Waterfall Diet.
Most cases of water retention are due to ‘idiopathic oedema (edema)’ which simply means that the water retention is not being caused by a specific disease.
I even stopped taking my Tramadol at night. The problem is that Lyrica has fluid retention as a side effect too! So now I have Prednisone, PMR, Lyrica, the weather (very hot summer), and my weight to blame for these swollen ankles! This is the first time I have tried the Lyrica. She said the usual dose for FM.
Anyway this week have dropped to 19mg & hey presto reduced swelling!!

So far my PCP had me increase my dose of Hydrochlorothiazide, which I take for my blood pressure, but it is also a mild diuretic. It is not helping much, so she said I may need to take some Lasix.
