I accidentally overdosed cat with Tramadol 50 mg pill (actually, I forgot to l my brother that he should only give him 1/8th of the pill, and easiest), wait a few minutes, then repeat. It will force him to throw up. I had to do this when my dog ate 3 lbs of raw coacoa beans. Hopefully it's not fully absorbed yet.

The average dose is approximay 3.5 mg per pound per day. Lower doses are used when combined with other behavioral modification medications. Currently, trazodone is not widely used in cats but appears to be safe and well tolerated. Doses generally used are 50 mg to 100 mg per cat for anxiety.
Other uses in humans include for the treatment of obsessive compulsive symptoms, post traumatic stress disorders, panic disorders, control of nightmares, fibromyalgia, alcohol and cocaine withdrawal, migraine prevention, schizophrenia and erectile dysfunction. Trazodone was extremely popular as an antidepressant in the 1980's and 1990's but is less commonly used due to the common side effect of sedation associated with Trazodone. Oleptro, Desyrel®, Desyrel Dividose, also known by the generic name “Trazodone”, is a drug commonly used for the treatment of human depression, anxiety disorders, and insomnia.

HiCustomer. According to Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook, the dose of Tramadol for dogs is 1-4mg/kg every 8 hours or so. Your dog is 8 pounds which equates to about 3kg, so your dog would get 3-12mg every 8 hours. Obviously your dog ingested 50mg which would be considered an overdose. The first thing we need.

Thank you for the information. Tramadol is a fairly safe medication. Typically we can dose it between 1-4 mg per kilogram, which for your dog, would result in about 15 mg as the highest dosage. Side effects seen with overdosage include: vomiting, constricted pupils, seizures and mental alterations. I would recommend.
Thank you for the information.
