Am J Addict. 2006 Mar-Apr;15(2):186-91. Tramadol versus buprenorphine for the management of acute heroin withdrawal: a retrospective matched cohort controlled study. Threlkeld M(1), Parran TV, Adelman CA, Grey SF, Yu J. Author information: (1)Department of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University School of.
Fifty-six percent of the buprenorphine group and 71% of the tramadol group completed detoxification; tramadol-treated patients had significantly higher average withdrawal symptoms when compared to the buprenorphine group and a greater reduction in withdrawal symptoms over time. Inclusion criteria for this study were heroin as drug of choice, current opioid physical dependence (ie, withdrawal symptoms), no current abuse of oral opioid analgesics, and no alcohol or benzodiazepine withdrawal symptoms.
I have a long history of opiate addiction and was previously on suboxone so I know the risks and benefits that go along with ORT. I also take 50 mg of tramadol 2x each day and would be stopping the tramadol and tianeptine 24-30 hours before induction. I am actually not to worried about the possible SSRI.
^I don’t agree because OP is only taking a very low dose of Tramadol. 2x50mg per day is really not much so it should be very doable to taper it off relatively fast.
Wanted to add, don’t go into tramadol wds thinking symptoms are going to be mild. – hs Zerwas. Read up on its mechanism of action. The tianeptine very well could exacerbate the anti depressant components of the WD.
I would start as low as possible when inducing the Subs, like with 0,5 mg-1mg. I can’t say much regarding the Tianeptine though and how Bupre will cover the WDs but theoretically it should help at least with the opioid effects of Tianeptine and Tramadol.
Besides the incredibly low cost of tramadol, i don't see any reason why i should switch to suboxone when they make me feel the same exact way. And i know withdrawals are bad off suboxone just as they are off vicodins even when you taper to nothing so I just don't see the diff between taking a low low.

I know the golden rule is to wait 24-36 hours after taking any opiate before consuming bupe, that's why this stood out to me. Tramadol is my only opiate available, and I also have one 8 mg Suboxone. So, can I take the Tramadol for a day or 2 then switch to the Suboxone, without doing the 36 hour wait.

I'm gonna be honest with you even at the 150mg a day hydrocodone I wouldn't suggest going to suboxone and I say that because suboxone is SO MUCH STRONGER than hydrocodone. No doubt suboxone saved my life but I was also taking 450-600 mg of oxy a day or 250-350 mg opana a day when I went on it. Switching.
